Ok, so apparently the sound was just turned all the way off on my computer. The following video does have sound, yeah!

Dinner and a dance

Looks like my new camera doesn't have sound on the video. I just tried to see if I just hadn't turned it on, but I couldn't figure any way to do it. It looks like it has a microphone, grrr.....
Anywho... here is a fun video of Maggie bopping away to Matt playing the piano while eating. She's got bread in one hand and bologna in the other. Too bad you can't hear the music :(

Same old newness

Maggie is still amazing, learning new things at every turn. Today Matt taught her to say boy instead of baby in reference to a character on his shirt. This is definitely a good thing. She has been refering to all children as baby and pretty much all adults as daddy. Sometimes though, any picture is baby no matter what it is of. She adores looking at pictures. One day I sat in front of the computer and let my slideshow change pictures every 5 seconds and she was mesmerized for a long time. She would squeal every time the picture changed and say "Baby!", or "Daddy!", or "Mommy", or "Mdaddy" when she isn't quite sure.
Maggie also has an insatiable hunger. For example, today I picked her up from Katherine's at 5:30 and as I was carrying her out she noticed the bag of mini rice cakes, pointed, and said "gaker". So, I grabbed a bag and slowly fed them to her as she asked for more as I drove with her in to Keene to meet my brother and parents for dinner. She ate half the bag before we got to the restaurant. She then proceeded to eat four slices of peaches, two slices of pear, a slice of pickle and quite a bit of the bean salad I got for her at the salad bar. Then, she started on our food, eating a slice of chicken and two hunks of bread from Steven's sandwich as well as some crust from my pizza. Then, as you can see in the picture she insisted on more rice cakes when we went outside.
Steven got her a wicked cool new backpack from Venezuela, isn't it a great color? Pretty soon she will really enjoy taking things in and out of the pack, playing with the zipper, and carrying her own stuff around. Awesome!

Maggie's next installment

Maggie just got over an ear infection, which she was nice enough to pass along to her daddy. He is having a much harder time with it than she had. She was out of it for a couple of days, and didn't want to eat much, but her pain only seemed to last for a few hours. He has been in pain for days, the poor dear.
She has gotten in three more teeth since the last time I reported, it could be four though. They are hard to see as she won't keep her mouth open for me, and if I try to stick my finger in her mouth she clamps down. Ouch.
We are almost out of formula so I tried her on Lactaid milk, but she doesn't seem to like it. She will sometimes drink water and tonight I gave her herbal tea, which she seems to like. I gave her some yogurt the other day, and it didn't seem to affect her so that's good. I can get dairy into her that way. It's going to be annoying to have to give her something that requires spoon feeding on a regular basis. I have been spoiled with just setting food in front of her and letting her have at it.
Her newest words, that we have figured out meanings for, are nena for banana, and she has an odd word for glasses that I can't for the life of me remember right now. I'll try to figure it out and let you know. It may be gagee, or something along those lines.
That's it for now. Hope you're all having a great time!

New Camera

I've been getting yelled at for not posting anything to the blog, and there have been several factors contributing to this. 1) I have temporarily misplaced the camera 2) I have started scrapbooking and have been putting my efforts into that and 3) I have been working like a maniac. I've been working two jobs since I got a new one. Monday that will end, and will hopefully give me some more free time in my life. No more working til 9:30 or 10 at night! So, I got a new camera today. It's a cheapie camera and I didn't exactly know what that would entail until I took some pictures and downloaded them to my camera. It's hard to get good pictures in not so good lighting, and any movement at all is very blurry. In this picture Maggie had stolen the instructions for getting the camera up and running and was laughing at me, and running away, when I tried to take them back from her. They were ripped in three places by the time I finally got them back. Her new favorite word is no! (Uh 0h.) Hopefully this stage is short lived. Matt and I agree that she is scary smart. She repeats words readily and learns new thing so easily. We are amazed by her at every turn. One great thing is that Katherine has taught her how to help put things away, what a lovely person she is! One word of her's that I wanted to record is that she calls cereal lulu, I don't know where she got that, and it took us awhile to figure out what she meant by it, but that is definitely it. Keep pestering me and maybe I'll start getting better about posting! Hope you're all having fun.

Maggie's words

Maggie is still steaming ahead on talking. When we ask her, "What does a cow say?" she responds, "Moo". That is the only animal we have been able to get her to do reliably. Most of the time for the rest she just repeats the name of the animal. She is able to point out eyes and nose and sometimes mouth on me and herself! She is getting extremely good at repeating what she hears. Guess the time has come to be extra careful what we say. Any moment now her vocabulary will spurt even more. She has also taken to nodding recently. Sometimes it seems to mean a yes, sometimes that she likes something, sometimes just to bop along to music in her head. Hehe.
Sorry there is no new picture. I have been lax with the camera recently. I really need to get a video of her nodding. And, if I'm lucky some of her talking.

More please

When Maggie wants something she points at it and says more. I guess she associated us asking her "do you want more?" or even just saying "more?" and then giving her food into more meaning that she gets some. She has even expanded this from just food to other things as well, mainly the phone. I don't know if she really wants to talk to people on the phone, but I do know that she at least wants to play with the phone when she points and says, "more" (or more like "muh"). I felt that this needed to be chronicled.

She also says please now! Christopher says it, "pwes" or something along those lines, I'm not great at phonetics. If we are giving her something that she really likes I try to have her say please. It's been great knowing she's already got a manner or two!

The end of Maggie's first birthday

A new year, and a new blog. This blog will chronicle Maggie's second year. We ended the last one with her first birthday party, and we will begin this one with the same. First though, a synopsis of where Maggie is right now. She has eight teeth, four in the center on both top and bottom. She walks like a pro and has an ever expanding vocabulary of approximately 15 words. Her favorite words are hi, kitty, dada, baby, and bubba. She is just getting over her first bad sickness with a very restful day today. She threw up quite often yesterday and the day before. We were very lucky to have supportive individuals around, like my mom and Katherine to help us through this time. At this point Maggie's personality seems to be that of a playful, happy, and somehow both independant and clingy little girl. She likes to explore on her own, but always looks back to make sure she can see us before going too far and she gets upset if she can't see us. She is the light of my life and my first consideration in every decision I make. In many respects this past year has been very hard, and I know it's cliche, but it was worth it.

The presents that Matt's parents sent for Maggie didn't make it in time for her birthday party because we had told them Walpole instead of North Walpole, so here is a video for all to see of her opening their gifts. Warning: it is four minutes long. While still fairly short I thought I'd let you know considering we expect everything on the internet to be so immediate.
